Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has opened up to his brother and Team USA teammate Jack Hughes about missing the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.

After missing 4 consecutive games for the Vancouver Canucks leading up to the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, Captain Quinn Hughes' status to play was up in the air, and after an "agonizing" time trying to make the decision, he ultimately decided it was the best decision to sit it out

Quinn Hughes has message to brother Jack Highes after withdrawing from 4 Nations Face-Off with injury

As the defending Norris Trophy winner with very good chances he will win his second consecutive this season, it is a clear major blow to Team USA to have him not be able to play.
But, it is an even bigger disappointment that brother Jack and Quinn won't be able to suit up along side one another for the first time since they were kids.
As man of few words, and a leader who likes to do his talking on the ice, had a brutally honest and characteristic message to his brother Jack about not being able to play together.
«Just like, 'damn, sorry, man.' That was about it. There's not much of a message,» revealed Jack today.

«He was just like, 'I'm sorry, I was so pumped.' But I'm like, 'We're both going to play a long time. At some point, we'll play [together].' Hopefully, at the Olympics, we'll get it done.»
More than anything, Hughes wants to compete and dawn the crest of his country across his chest to play the best of the best, but when you are injured, you are injured, and he has a whole half of the season left with the Canucks in order to try and make a push for the playoffs.
«Something he was fighting over for a week now since he got injured. He wants to be a part of this and he was really excited to come with this group and put the USA jersey back on. It's frustrating, but if you're injured, you're injured.»
