Canucks demote forward Aatu Räty to AHL Abbottsford

In a surprising move that needed to be made, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has announced another roster move in which they will demote and assign Aatu Räty to the AHL Abbottsford Canucks.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Aatu Räty has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

This move comes after the team announced they will be recalling defenseman Erik Brannstrom to the NHL after having a wonderful start of the year in the minors> While of course, the Canucks are also on a 3 game losing skid to kick of the season and need to shake things up to try and turn it around.

Aatu Räty made the Canucks opening roster out of camp after excelling in training camp and in the preseason. At just 21-years-old, the Finnish center was acquired back in 2023 as part of the blockbuster Bo Horvat trade. In 27 games last season in the AHL for the Abbotsford Canucks, Räty scored 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points, he added an additional 4 points in six playoff games.

After making the team out of camp, Räty has played in all three games for the Vancouver Canucks this season. he has not necessary played bad, certainly better than others as he recorded an assist while achieving 9:41 of ice time per evening. We the finish youngster has done his best work is inside the faceoff circle, as he won 14 for 23 , which included going 4 for 5 in their defensive zone.
