Patrik Allvin just made the formal announcement that four players had been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford. Jiri Patera, Christian Wolanin, Nathan Smith and surprisingly, the veteran Phil Di Giuseppe.
Di Giuseppe will most likely be returning to Abbotsford where he last played in 2022-2023. He had collected 32 points in 39 games before making the jump to the NHL full time.

Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Kirill Kudryavstev and Elias D-Pettey Pettersson were surprisingly sent down. While it wasn't expected that they'd crack the Canucks' roster for the season opener, the belief was that their play would've been good enough for them to stick around for another game. Joining them are, Linus Karlsson, Ty Mueller, Max Sasson, Christian Felton, Cole McWard and Nikita Tolopilo.
Aatu Raty however, will remain with the big club for the time being. With his strong play and offensive output, the young centerman is still in line for the team's third centerman job behind J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson. Arshdeep Bains will also be sticking around for some more time.
The Canucks have one more game on their exhibitions schedule, on Friday, at which point they'll play the Edmonton Oilers with what will seemingly be their opening night roster. As of right now, the projected Canucks roster might look like:
1. Heinen - Miller - Boeser
2. Debrusk - Pettersson - Sprong
3. Hoglander - Raty - Garland
4. Bains - Suter - Sherwood
1. Hughes - Hronek
2. Soucy - Myers
3. Forbort - Desharnais/Juulsen
