As the regular season winds down, the Vancouver Canucks are taking the opportunity to evaluate another one of their promising young players.

On Monday morning, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced that the team had recalled defenseman Kirill Kudryavtsev from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions.

The Vancouver Canucks took to X and broke the news Monday afternoon.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Kirill Kudryavtsev has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) under emergency conditions.
David Quadrelli from the Canucks Army writes that the team find themselves unexpectedly shorthanded on the blue line after Derek Forbort sustained a broken orbital bone from a cheap shot delivered by Minnesota's Yakov Trenin. As a result, Forbort will miss the team's final two regular-season games.
"After Sunday practice, head coach Rick Tocchet hinted to the fact that the Canucks would be calling another defenceman up from Abbotsford, and the fact it's Kudryavtsev getting the call, ahead of players like Cole McWard, Jett Woo, or Christian Wolanin, speaks volumes to how highly the organization values what he's accomplished in Abbotsford this season." -Quadrelli

With Tyler Myers already sidelined for the rest of the season, the Canucks' blue line could look something like this tonight as they face the San Jose Sharks...
Quinn Hughes - Elias Pettersson
Marcus Pettersson - Filip Hronek
Kirill Kudryavtsev - Victor Mancini
Kudryavtsev, a seventh-round pick by the Canucks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, has already outperformed expectations tied to his draft position. Following an impressive conclusion to his OHL career, he's made a smooth transition to the pro level, with his first AHL season in Abbotsford going as well as the organization could have hoped.
In 63 games this season, the 21-year-old left-shot defenseman has recorded 26 points, earning a reputation as one of head coach Manny Malhotra's most trusted players on the blue line.
We'll see how the young defenseman adapts to the NHL level in Vancouver's final two games of the season.
