Fans Furious with the Vancouver Canucks After Ticket Prices Make It Impossible for Families to Attend Games
Vancouver Canucks fans aren't too happy with ticket prices to watch a game at Rogers Arena this season and they've voiced their opinion in a recent mailbag.
If there's anything professional sports fans know, it's that the cost of tickets is a major hurdle between you and watching your favorite team live in their home arena.
For Vancouver Canucks fans, they know all too well that ticket prices to watch a game this season is getting out of control and for some, out of reach, forcing them to either not go to a game or limit the amount they can go to throughout a season.
Vancouver Canucks fans voice their displeasure with ticket prices
In a recent mailbag by Patrick Johnston of The Province, several Vancouver Canucks fans shared their opinions on current ticket prices, with one fan going as far as saying it would cost them $1,000 just to see the team play at Rogers Arena, along with an overpriced hotel in the downtown core.
"The prices feel out of reach when you have to get an overpriced hotel room in Vancouver as well.
Unfortunately, Vancouver has become too expensive to visit. We live in Salmon Arm and it would cost us around $1,000 to see a home game." Hans Friedrich, who lives in Tappen, British Columbia, said.
"I'm almost 60 and I've been a Canucks fan all my life. We live in Anmore and so getting to a game isn't an issue. The ticket prices are out of control though. The past four seasons, I've gone to one game each season. That's all I can afford! And yet, I'm a huge fan - I watch every game on Sportsnet, which is super expensive too." Matt Fisher said to Patrick Johnston.
On Ticketmaster for their upcoming game against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, ticket prices are quite ridiculous.
To sit in the last row in the 100 level in section 105, it costs a whopping $407 Canadian, with tickets all over the lower bowl in a similar range, some sitting at $393.
When it comes to the upper bowl, the last row of section 317, which happens to also be an alcohol-free zone, it'll cost you $130 CAD per seat.
For the average fan, that's a lot of money to shell out, especially in the lower bowl and if you're a family of four who wants to have a nice outing at the Vancouver Canucks game, you're looking close to $1,000 or even more for tickets, food, drinks, etc.
Given the prices of tickets, it's not too surprising to see so many empty seats at Rogers Arena on a nightly basis.
