Former Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen had a lot to say in a recent interview about the salary demands and recent play of Brock Boeser.

Just before the trade deadline passed, a a report came out saying that Brock Boeser and his camp turned down a five-year contract extension from the Vancouver Canucks that would've seen him earn $8 million annually.
Boeser was rumored to be on the move before March 7th's trade deadline, but ultimately the Canucks held onto him as their own rental as Patrik Allvin claimed the value just wasn't there to get a deal done that would've benefitted the organization.

Jannik Hansen doesn't believe Brock Boeser should get $8 million per season

During an appearance on The People's Show on Sportsnet 650 radio, former Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen was quite critical of Brock Boeser's play recently, going as far as calling him invincible at times.
Hansen also said that Boeser shouldn't be asking for a salary of $8 million per season, but rather should be looking close to $6-6.5 million annually as he says he's a supporting player and not someone who can drive a line or make his linemates better.
"He's invisible...he's invisible and that's the problem. He doesn't create things himself, so unless somebody does it for him, nothing happens. It almost dies on his stick. You see him getting pucks in his own end, flips them out, passes in the feet. He's not a difference maker and that's what's worrisome with his deal coming up. You want a Brock Boeser player on this team if he's performing and has the players to play with. The player that will set him up, the player that will get him in these positions, then he can score." Hansen said.

He added, "The problem with his ask is that he's asking for money that you would give to the player that makes Brock Boeser a better player. I can't do that, it doesn't make sense in my world. If you cannot tilt the ice when you're on there, if you cannot make your two linemates better, don't you dare ask for $8 million. Like ask for $6M, ask for $6.5-$7M and then be a supporting player."
Boeser responded with a massive game on Tuesday night against the NHL-leading Winnipeg Jets by scoring two goals and adding an assist as Vancouver picked up a 6-2 victory.
If Brock Boeser were to consistently be a 30+ goal scorer, then he'd probably be worth $8 million annually, but expectations need to be tempered a little bit and he might need to compromise on his salary demands, potentially going to $6.5-7M AAV.
We'll have to wait and see where contract talks go between Vancouver and Brock Boeser's camp in the coming months as we're just 104 days away from the opening of the National Hockey League's free agency window.
