Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet is a polarizing figure among Vancouver fans, and his recent comments about their win over the Winnipeg Jets have sparked some outrage and frustration about his selfishness.
With all the drama, lack of results and injuries that have surrounding the Vancouver Canucks this season, several NHL insiders, most notably Elliotte Friedman, believe that head coach Rick Tocchet will be parting way with the organization come the offseason.
Rick Tocchet credits his "system" for working against the Winnipeg Jets
Even after winning the Jack Addams award in 2023-2024 for the NHL most valuable coach, Rick Tocchet's coaching style and defensive "system" has come under fire all season long, which he discredits for the losses.
But now, Tocchet is doing the opposite, highlighting his system as the reason for wins which is sparking outrage from Canucks fans.
After their best game of the season against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday where they won 6-2, Tocchet credited his system and the way the players followed it as the reason for the win, which some are finding selfish
Rick Tocchet: "They took the information, and applied it today. That's the key, is knowing how we want to play and how to expose the other team, and we applied it today. We just have to keep hammering it down."
After these comments, Canucks fans took to social media to express their utter frustration with the head coach, highlighting how Tocchet avoids responsibility after losses, but takes all the credit for wins.
When they win it's all him. When they lose it's the players. Lol. Not a good look, coach.
Yea if the Canucks win it's all his plan if they lose the players just suck baldy needs a reality check
