For the last four seasons, Adam Cracknell has been spending his time in the American Hockey League and has been reliable offensively for any team he's appeared for in the minors. But now, Cracknell is looking for a new challenge and is heading back to Europe for the first time since 2020-21.
In a post on their website on Tuesday, HK Poprad, a team in the Slovak Extraliga, announced that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Adam Cracknell.
HK Poprad sports director Julius Koval said that the team is excited to add someone like Adam Cracknell, who will bring experience along with leadership and is that the younger players can learn from this season.
Cracknell, a native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, appeared in 44 games for the Vancouver Canucks during the 2015-16 season where he put up ten points (five goals, five assists), 14 penalty minutes and was a plus-one. At the end of February 2016, the Canucks placed Cracknell on waivers and the next day, he was claimed by the Edmonton Oilers.
Last season, the 39-year-old suited up for 59 games with the AHL's Henderson Silver Knights, recording 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists), ten penalty minutes and was a minus-nine.
Given Cracknell's age, it's going to be interesting to see if this is his final season of professional hockey or if he'll give it another go in 2025-26, potentially back here in North America.
