Halloween may be over, but it's always fun to take a look at the costumes worn by players and in this case, a mascot in the National Hockey League. Fin, the mascot for the Vancouver Canucks, decided to dress up as a famous anti-hero Deadpool.
For those who haven't seen any of the Deadpool movies - Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and the most recent one, Deadpool & Wolverine - he's played by Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds.
The Vancouver Canucks posted Fin's costume on social media on the evening of Halloween with the following caption, asking for a comment from Ryan Reynolds:
Surprisingly, Ryan Reynolds took the time out of his day to reply to the Canucks' post on X, making a pretty hilarious comment. Reynolds said that Fin's costume should win the 'Stan Lee Cup', making reference to the Stanley Cup, as well as the late Stan Lee, the famous comic book writer who helped create superheroes such as Spiderman, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers.
Deadpool was created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, making his first appearance in New Mutants #98, which was released back in December 1990. Deadpool is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, who was a solider that was kicked out of the military and became a mercenary-for-hire. In the first film, released in 2016, Deadpool - played by Reynolds, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, but a healing factor was given to him, which caused the scarring of his skin under his suit because his normal cells and cancerous cells unable to die.
The latest film, Deadpool & Wolverine, is set to be available to stream on Disney Plus starting on November 12th.
