Insider throws shade at Canucks
Despite mounting an impressive comeback in Game 1 against the Oilers, the Canucks continue to be looked at as an underdog and can't seem to buy any respect from the media.
Most recently, on the May 9 DFO Rundown podcast, Insider Frank Seravalli said even after dropping Game 1 to the Canucks, the Oilers are in a different class than Vancouver.
Seravalli disagreed with his co-host Jason Gregor's statement that the Oilers and Canucks are close, saying while he likes the Canucks, the Oilers are head and shoulders above them.
Famous last words, but I think there's a clear disparity between these two teams. I think the Canucks are a good team; I think the Oilers have the potential to be a great team. I think they're in their way.
Seravalli said the Oilers shot themselves in the foot in Game 1, but it might be the wake-up call they need.
He says he's been a "Canucks believer" all season, but there's a clear gap between the Oilers and Canucks, and it's up to Edmonton to dictate how this series will go. The Canucks have relished being underdogs all season, and they'll be happy to continue to defy the odds.
