Vancouver Canucks president Jim Rutherford made heads turn today during the end of year press-conference when he admitted there is a very real possibility that Captain Quinn Hughes will leave the organization to join the New Jersey Devils to play with his brothers Jack and Luke.

After what was one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory for the Vancouver Canucks, many fans and members of the media were counting down the days for when the end of year conference was going to take place in order to get some much needed answers.

Jim Rutherford reveals Quinn Hughes wants to play with his brothers Jack and Luke Hughes

It is no surprise that fans and media are not happy with the efforts put in by both Rutherford and Allvin, especially with the lack of moves made at the deadline.
But amid the chaos that was the end of year press conference, Rutherford surprised many when discussing the future of captain Quinn Hughes and the threat of him leaving the organization once his contract expires in 2027.
He said that Hughes expressed his strong desire to play with his brothers Luke and Jack who both are stars for the New Jersey Devils.
«The one thing that we will be sure of that we will have enough cap space to offer (Quinn Hughes) the kind of contract that he deserves. That's the one thing we can prepare for. This franchise cannot afford to lose a guy like Quinn Hughes. And we will do everything we can to keep him here, but at the end of the day, it'll be his decision.» - Rutherford

He said saying that there is a really good chance that no matter how much money they throw at him, his decision to stay may not be about that, but his desire to be with his family.
«It may not boil down to money with [Quinn],» Rutherford said. «He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here.» - Rutherford
Considering the issues, drama and question marks heading into the offseason, Jim Rutherford's appearance did not add any confidence that things will improve.
If anything, more concerns have risen from today's media scuffle.
