Rick Tocchet opened up on the subject, but he failed to be concise. The veteran had not been skating for the last few days and and insiders even started calling around to find out more. The Canucks number 9 was sick of it and called for a media availability in which he revealed everything.
Miller met with the media and revealed that he had been dealing with an injury and preferred to stay on the sidelines, fearing he could aggravate the situation. Even though the Canucks had been evading from the subject, Miller cleared up the air straight away.
The number 9 seemingly took the opportunity to rest his body instead of forcing a return, but now confirms that he's all set to go. Both he and Tocchet confirmed that he'd making his pre-season debut against the Edmonton Oilers:
All sorts of speculation had been circulating on social media, but knowing that Miller will be all set for Friday is reassuring for the Canucks and their fans. An undisputed leader within the club, Miller is a big piece of the Canucks success and one they can't afford to lose, especially with Thatcher Demko already sidelined for some time.
Demko is the team's starting netminder, but he's an important calming presence in the locker, the Canucks' younger core will need all the leadership they can get and it definitely starts with J.T. and Captain Hughes.
