Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood has been a wrecking ball for the team's bottom-six forward group and set a new franchise record last night.

Kiefer Sherwood returned to the Vancouver Canucks lineup on Sunday night after missing the previous four games following an undisclosed injury he suffered on January 23rd against the Edmonton Oilers.

Kiefer Sherwood sets new Vancouver Canucks franchise record

Coming into last night's game against the Detroit Red Wings, Kiefer Sherwood had his sights set on a new franchise record after tying Luke Schenn for most hits in a single season with the Vancouver Canucks.
It didn't take Kiefer Sherwood too long to record his first hit of the game and in doing so, became the Vancouver Canucks' single season hits record holder with 274.
"HARD-HITTING NUMBERS 💥

Sherwood now holds the #Canucks record for most hits in a single-season with 274!" the Canucks said in a post on X.

For those who have watched the Vancouver Canucks this season, Kiefer Sherwood doesn't slow down in the hits department throughout a game and he went on to record seven more during their overtime loss to Detroit, finishing with eight in total.
Sherwood, a native of Columbus, Ohio, is having a solid season for the Vancouver Canucks as not only has he set a new franchise record for hit, he's also set a new career-high in goals with 13.
The 29-year-old currently is 84 hits ahead of second place Garnet Hathaway of the Philadelphia Flyers for the National Hockey League lead this season and has his sights set on another record.
If Kiefer Sherwood is able to register 104 more hits in Vancouver's final 30 games in the 2024-25 campaign, then he'll surpass Nashville's Jeremy Lauzon and set a new NHL record for hits in a single season.
Sherwood will need to average 3.4 hits per game, if he plays every single one of Vancouver's final 30 contests, and it's safe to say that by the time mid-April rolls around, he'll be the new NHL record holder.
