If you have watched the Vancouver Canucks since JT Miller has returned from his leave of absence, there is something glaringly missing from his game.
As the emotional heartbeat and expected leader scorer for the team in the past seasons, Miller does not seem like himself on and off the ice.
In games he looks dejected and uninterested and carries that attitude off the ice when speaking to the media.
Obviously the team is losing so the energy in the locker room can't be the highest, but clearly Rick Tocchet has been highly disappointed in Millers game and effort which is being displayed in the amount of ice time he is getting.
During Vancouver's last contest against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night, Rick Tocchet removed J.T. Miller from the team's top power play unit, while the East Palestine, Ohio native logged his third-lowest ice time total of the season at 14:37.
There was speculation that Miller may be playing through an injury, as his play and attitude is completely uncharacteristic, but Tocchet confirmed bluntly that Miller is not inured.
Which begs to ask the question if he is just unhappy with him in general.
When asked about it by the media today, Miller, with complete and utter disinterest, stated that he doesn't know why he is being played more, but he thinks he probably needs to play better.
to be honest, from out point of view, Miller looks like he is at his breaking point, and watching him play and even speak to the media is painful to watch.
There is no emotion and fire to be seen, something needs to change quick.
In 33 games this season, Miller has recorded 8 goals and 21 assists for 29 points with 67 shots on goal and 74 hits with a minus-four rating.
