Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet Sets Rumor Straight Regarding J.T. Miller Being Injured
Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet has shot down a rumor regarding forward J.T. Miller amid his dip in ice time in the last couple of games.
It hasn't been the season that Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller would've hoped for and with the team exploring the market for him and Elias Pettersson, it's unclear what the future holds for the 31-year-old in British Columbia.
During Vancouver's game against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night, Rick Tocchet removed J.T. Miller from the team's top power play unit, while the East Palestine, Ohio native logged his third-lowest ice time total of the season at 14:37.
There's been a lot of talk this season about J.T. Miller's health and if he's been playing injured and when meeting with reporters after the morning skate, Rick Tocchet was asked about this.
Rick Tocchet says forward J.T. Miller is not playing injured
Those rumors surrounding J.T. Miller potentially playing injured were quashed by Rick Tocchet on Thursday when asked by reporters, adding they're playing more lines and he knows Miller wants to play better.
""No, he's not hurt," Tocchet said.
He added, "We're playing more four lines and I think it's helped our team adjust, not giving the other team as many shots, trying to stay in the game. He wants to play better, he knows it."
J.T. Miller also spoke with the media today where he was asked about his decreasing ice time over the last couple of games, while saying he could be playing a bit better going forward.
"I don't know," says J.T. Miller when asked why his ice-time trended downwards on the road trip.
"Probably could play a little better, I don't know."
Miller and the Canucks will look for their third win of 2025 tonight as they host the Los Angeles Kings on Sportsnet Pacific with puck drop just after 7 pm PT.
