LATEST | Canucks' most recent call-up: Not a unanimous decision
The Vancouver Canucks are set to return to action on Wednesday as they face Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche at Rogers Arena.
With starting netminder Thatcher Demko out for the next few weeks with a lower-body injury, Patrik Allvin will need to call someone up from the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks.
The two options the Canucks are weighing right now are Arturs Silovs and Nikita Tolopilo, both of whom have played fairly well so far this season in the AHL.
While on Sekeres and Price, Patrick Johnston of The Province said that he wouldn't be surprised if the Belarusian Nikita Tolopilo is called up over 2023 IIHF World Championship MVP Arturs Silovs.
"I'm pretty sure Tolopilo has surpassed Silovs on the long-view depth chart...I wouldn't be surprised if Tolopilo gets called up." Patrick Johnston of The Province said.
So far this season, Tolopilo, a native of Minsk, has appeared in 24 games for the Abbotsford Canucks where he has a record of 14-10-0 with a 2.83 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.
It's going to be interesting to see who Patrik Allvin and the Canucks decide to call up from Abbotsford. Both Tolopilo and Silovs will be able to help the Canucks in Demko's absence while Casey DeSmith takes over the starting reigns for the next few weeks.
