The Vancouver Canucks hit the ice for practice on Thursday and with the team coming off a tough loss in overtime the night prior to the Colorado Avalanche, frustrations boiled over.

During a drill on Thursday, Vancouver Canucks forward Conor Garland and defenceman Filip Hronek got into a bit of a scuffle.

On Friday, Garland met with the media and it was safe to assume that someone was going to ask him about the scuffle. Garland gave his explanation of what happened to reporters.

"Yeah, that's what that drill is basically made for. Um, I think my helmet came off so it probably looked worse than what it was, but it's nothing. I mean, it's, you know, usually after losses a lot of teams have that drill and it's a high level compete and you know, it's good for us to have that, we've got to play like that." Garland said.

Scuffles between teammates happen more often than most people think and this was the second one this week, following Lucas Raymond and Ben Chiarot of the Detroit Red Wings. It just shows that guys like Garland and Hronek are passionate about this team.

Garland and the Canucks will look to get back into the win column on Saturday night as they continue their nine-game home stand by hosting Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET on Sportsnet One, CityTV and Sportsnet Pacific.
