With all signs pointing towards the Canucks and Elias Pettersson finally coming to an agreement on a new deal, Vancouver will soon be able to deal with business for next season.
That will include either re-signing or finding replacements for 7 regulars on their roster who are pending UFAs, but for Rutherford and Allvin, the priority will likely be locking up the next big RFA: Filip Hronek.
On the DFO Rundown podcast, Frank Seravalli says that's not going to be a small commitment.
Filip Hronek is going to cost a lot... I believe that number still starts with an 8 in front of it,
Seravalli says between massive raises for Hronek and Pettersson, and the cap hit from Ekman-Larsson's buyout increasing, the Canucks available cap space will quickly dry up.
The Canucks will certainly look different next season, but new deals for Pettersson and Hronek will at least ensure their core remains intact.
