A depth defenceman could potentially be a target for Patrik Allvin, but they may also look for more help on forward and there are several intriguing options available on the market including a former Vancouver Canuck - Tyler Toffoli.
During Thursday's edition of Sekeres and Price, former Canucks defenceman Frankie Corrado was a guest and mentioned that Tyler Toffoli would be a solid player to pick up as he brings clutch scoring and can score at 5-on-5. Adding someone like Toffoli would help the Canucks because of Ilya Mikheyev's struggles at putting the puck in the back of the net.
Toffoli, 31, appeared in ten regular season and seven Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Vancouver Canucks during the 2019-20 season after being traded to them by the Los Angeles Kings. In those 17 games, Toffoli had 14 points (eight goals, six assists).
The Canucks wanted to re-sign Tyler Toffoli, as was explained by former General Manager Jim Benning, but he said that the team 'ran out of time', while Toffoli said he was never offered a contract and ultimately, became an unrestricted free agent in October 2020 and signed with the Montreal Canadiens.
This season, Toffoli has put up 42 points (25 goals, 17 assists), 12 penalty minutes and is a minus-11 in 58 games with the New Jersey Devils. Toffoli has a cap hit of $4.25 million, which may be tough to add, and is set to become a free agent in July.
