Wednesday will mark one month since Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua suffered a hand injury during a fight with Chicago Blackhawks forward MacKenzie Entwistle.
On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks announced a roster move regarding Dakota Joshua, placing him on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) retroactively.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Dakota Joshua has been placed on LTIR retroactively and G Arturs Silovs has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) under emergency conditions."
According to Patrick Johnston of The Province, Joshua became eligible to be placed on long-term injured reserve last weeks, given it was ten games/24 days since his injury and the move today creates cap space to call up goaltender Arturs Silovs from the AHL due to Thatcher Demko's lower-body injury.
"Joshua move is paper work: became eligible for LTIR last week (10 games + 24 days). Creates the cap space needed for Silovs recall.
Emergency conditions is Demko injury which means Canucks don't have to use a regular recall on Silovs. (You get 4 after deadline, Podz was first.)"
Joshua, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, was having the best season of his career thus far prior to his injury. In 53 games this season, the 27-year-old has 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists), 46 penalty minutes and is a plus-16.
