Lekkerimaki's return to Sweden to happen in coming weeks
Earlier this week when the Vancouver Canucks announced that Jonathan Lekkerimaki was coming to North America, no one knew how long it would be for. But now, we sort of have an idea on his timeline here.
According to HockeyNews.se, Jonathan Lekkerimaki will be returning to Sweden at the beginning of April to begin preparations for the 2024 IIHF World Hockey Championship, as there's a good chance he'll be on the nation's final roster for the tournament.
Lekkerimaki is returning early next month also because he's needed for a pair of international exhibition games that Sweden are playing against Finland on April 18th and 19th.
Note: the following quotes were translated from Swedish.
"At the beginning of April, Lekkerimaki returns to Sweden to play with Tre Kronor for the first time on April 18 and 19.
According to NA, Jonathan Lekkerimaki will be included in national team captain Sam Hallam's squad for the double international against Finland in Jyvaskyla and St Michel." Mattias Ek of HockeyNews.se said.
Lekkerimaki, a native of Tullinge, Sweden, had a strong season in the SHL with Orebro HK, putting up 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists), ten penalty minutes and was a plus-six in 46 games. In three playoff games, he added one assist.
