The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 4-1 on Thursday night. It was their third straight victory as they remained in first place in the NHL.
Newcomer Elias Lindholm scored twice, and Elias Pettersson recorded a goal and an assist. Nils Hoglander also got on the board for the fourth straight game in the form of an assist. Hoglander, however, also caught Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman with a high stick but was not penalized.
NHL Player Safety has now reported that Hoglander is facing a fine of $2,864.58 the maximum allowable under the current CBA for the play.
Hoglander, 23, has a career-high 17 goals through 53 games but just seven assists. He will continue to look to break his career-high of 27 points, set as a rookie in 2020-2021.
