Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been named as the team's 2024-25 nominee for a National Hockey League award that'll be handed out in the coming months.
Aside from injuries he suffered this season, Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has found a way to produce night in, night out and while he's not going to reach the heights he did last year, he's still finishing with 75+ points for the third year in a row.
Everyone knows how
important Quinn Hughes is on the ice to the Vancouver Canucks, but off the ice, the 25-year-old is a great leader and representative for the organization, and on Tuesday, has earned himself a nomination for an NHL award.
Quinn Hughes announced as Vancouver Canucks nominee for King Clancy Memorial Trophy
This morning, the National Hockey League announced the 32 nominees - one per team - for this year's King Clancy Memorial Trophy and for the Vancouver Canucks, they've selected captain Quinn Hughes.
For those who aren't too familiar with the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, it's an award named after the Hockey Hall of Famer which is handed out annually to the player who shows leadership both on and off the ice and also makes a contribution in the community.
"Taking the lead. 👏
Captain Quinn Hughes has been named the #Canucks King Clancy Memorial Trophy nominee, presented to the player who best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice and has made humanitarian contributions in his community." the Canucks said on X.
A couple of years ago, Quinn Hughes
founded Team 43, which helps give back to first responders in British Columbia with the Vancouver Canucks captain donated four tickets to each home game at Rogers Arena.
The Hughes family knows all about the sacrifice that first responders make in their career as Quinn's grandfather was a member of the New York City Fire Department for over 30 years.
If Quinn Hughes takes home this year's King Clancy Memorial Trophy, it'll be the fourth time in franchise history that it's happened following Trevor Linden in 1996-97, Henrik Sedin in 2015-16 and Henrik & Daniel Sedin in 2017-18.
