The Vancouver Canucks announced the call-up of thirteen players from AHL Abbotsford on Friday afternoon.
With Abbotsford being eliminated in Round 2 of the Calder Cup playoffs on Wednesday, Patrik Allvin decided to bring some key players and youngsters from the AHL squad up to the NHL to serve as Black Aces.
One goalie, five defencemen and seven forwards make up the roster move, including some of the team's top prospects.
Abbotsford was swept in the second round by the LA Kings affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
While they put up a fight against the Reign, but found themselves unable to contend in the series after losing their start
Arturs Silovs, and later backup Nikita Toropilo.
While most of the players are unlikely to see action in the playoffs, they'll take valuable experience from practicing with the team and being around the intensity of the playoffs.
