It seemed like everything was going the Canucks way heading into the second period as they held a 4-1 lead and controlled the neutral zone matchup. Something must of took place in between periods because Vancouver looked like a different team for the remaining 40 minutes of regulation.
The Flames scored four unanswered goals to take the lead, but a late push with an empty net by Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller got the game squared away at 5 to 5.
Unfortunately, the narrative of the second and third periods carried over into overtime as they looked to standno chance against the Flames as they buried one to solidify the win 6-5.
He did go on to step up and take some of the blame for making some bad line adjustments and decisions that affected the game. But mostly, he said that the focus in training camp was flawed, that the team and coaching staff focused too much on areas of the game such as the transition and not enough of defense.
Nonetheless, it was a disappointing game for fans to watch, but, it is still only the first game and there are 81 games left for the Canucks to showcase their will to win.
