Canucks issue a statement on Quinn Hughes
The Canucks captain Quinn Hughes carried the team to the win column in Arizona with a brilliant performance. The captain scored and collected an assist to help the team collect a 2-1 win in the desert.
With career highs in the goals (16), assist (70) and point (86) columns this season. Hughes has now climbed another step in franchise history and has surpassed Matthias Ohlund, who held the Canucks' 2nd Rank for points by a Defenseman.
Hughes now has 326 points, and Alexander Edler is in his sight. Edler is the franchise's leader for points by a defenceman with 409. At his current rate, Hughes should have sole possession of the record by the end of next season.
With 86 points on the season, Quinn Hughes is establishing a new franchise mark for single-season point total for a Canucks Defenseman. He held the previous mark, which he had established just a year ago. The Canucks captain is currently leading all of the NHL's defenceman for points; he leads Cale Makar with a 3-points margin.
Hughes is making an extreme case for the Norris Trophy (NHL's Top Defenseman) with his exceptional outing. Perhaps even the league's MVP.
