Nils Hoglander has seen his name thrown around in trade rumours for quite a while now, and with the Canucks potentially in the market for a top-four defenceman, many were wondering if the Swedish forward could be moved to bring one in.
While a guest on Halford and Brough on Monday, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali said that Vancouver Canucks wouldn't have any interest in trading Nils Hoglander, especially given they've spent a significant amount of time developing him.
Hoglander, 23, is coming off the best season of his young NHL career so far and could play a significant role on the Canucks' roster to start the 2024-25 season, potentially in a top-six role with time on the powerplay.
In 80 games during the regular season, Hoglander scored 36 points (24 goals, 12 assists), played 51 penalty minutes, and was a plus-23. His production dropped off in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, however, as he only registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 11 games.
As training camp approaches, it's going to be interesting to see where Rick Tocchet slots Nils Hoglander and whether he'll play on Elias Pettersson's wing, as he did at times during the 2023-24 campaign.
