Daniel Sprong finally reveals why he chose to sign the Canucks
The Canucks inked one of free agency's potential best contracts with Daniel Sprong, and both parties couldn't be more excited to kick things off.
Sprong was expected to hit the market and, according to some analytics, projected to sign a contract for two to four years with a $3M AAV at the very least. It was definitely a surprise to see him wind up in Vancouver at such a price.
The Canucks newest addition was finally made available to the media and, during his first official interview as a team member, revealed why he chose the Canucks over a few other offers he'd been entertaining:
"I just thought the biggest thing for me was to be in a situation where I could be happy."

While Sprong's place in the lineup hasn't been confirmed, there is a strong chance he'll be given an opportunity to play with
Elias Pettersson and
Jake Debrusk. Not only did Sprong speak regarding the two players, but he also revealed that the trio had already been acquainted and perhaps already building chemistry.
Daniel Sprong says he knows Elias Pettersson & Jake DeBrusk and has kept in touch with them for years. #Canucks
One this is certain, with the Canucks' latest additions, Tocchet will have plenty of different trios with his offensive group. This new Canucks forward core counts nothing less then 9 players who score 15 or more goals last year, offense shouldn't be a problem for them.
