The Vancouver Canucks appear to be losing a prospect to the KHL, as Dimitri Zlodeyev is leaving the team after just a brief stint with AHL Abbotsford.

The 22 year old Zlodeyev (spelt as Zlodeev on some sites) was drafted in the 6th round in 2020, and after a few years bouncing between the KHL, VHL, and MHL he spent last year in Abbotsford.

Zlodeyev played just 21 games and registered a single goal in that time, and in previous seasons has not generated much offense at the KHL level.

At the beginning of July, he was traded to Avangard Omsk - and is currently listed as centering another former Canucks prospect in Cole Cassels.

Canucks Army's Cody Severtson shared that the Russian prospect was dealt.

In past seasons, there has been reason for optimism around Zlodeyev but his struggles in the AHL left more to be desired.

He had only 10 shots in the 21 games he played, and the Abbotsford Canucks were outscored 6-3 at 5 on 5 when he was on the ice.

He won a gold medal at the 2020 IIHF Hlinka Gretzky Cup as a part of Russia's U18 team, serving as an assistant captain, and also won the 2023 VHL Championship.

Zoldeyev leaving Abbotsford hasn't been confirmed by the Canucks organization, but it appears he's headed to Avangard.
