Hronek had a career year this season, registering 48, proving and demonstrating that he could be an extremely effective two-way blueliner. The only issue is that he stepped his game up a massive notch in the last year of his contract, and so did his value.
Bound to be a restricted free agent by July 1st, the Canucks have had prior extension talks. Thus far, everything points to Hronek being too greedy and the Canucks not being ready to meet his expectations. The rumour mill has since then started, and his name has been involved in all sorts of trade talks.
On Canucks Central, Satiar Shah delivered the biggest piece of information we've had since the end of the season in regards to the 26-year-old Czech. According to his intel, if Hronek and the Canucks can't find an agreement, the chances of seeing a Hronek trade at the NHL amateur draft are extremely high:
The 2024 Draft is meant to be held on June 28th and 29th, which leaves another two weeks to get things moving before Hronek's next destination is decided.
Alongside the Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, Hronek gave the Canucks the very best version of himself. From the moment Allvin took over, finding a partner for Hughes had been one of his priorities. After spending a 1st Round Draft Pick and a 2nd Round Pick in 2023, Allvin may have to start all over.
