With his name swirling in trade rumors for quite some time now, Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser is doing his best at tuning things out with two weeks until the deadline.
The National Hockey League's trade deadline is two weeks tomorrow and
a recent report suggests that teams around the league expect Brock Boeser to be made available by the Vancouver Canucks.
Brock Boeser says he's trying to tune out trade rumors
Brock Boeser is in the final year of his contract with the Vancouver Canucks and is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and so far, there haven't been many talks regarding a new deal between his camp and team management.
Earlier this week, Vancouver Canucks players who weren't participating at the 4 Nations Face-Off returned to the ice for practice in preparation for their upcoming five-game road trip and Brock Boeser was asked about where things stand leading up to the trade deadline.
Boeser told reporters that there hasn't been any talks with management about his future and that he's trying to tune out trade rumors, while helping the team win games, including some big ones coming up against Vegas on Saturday night.
""No, not really. There's not really an update. I haven't really talked to my agent, so I'm just trying to worry about continuing to play well." Boeser said.
He added, "I feel that me and my linemates have got some good chemistry going and have been playing solid hockey, so I'm really focused on continuing that and getting back to my game and helping contribute and helping our team win. That's really all I'm focused on right now."
The 27-year-old has spent his entire career with the Vancouver Canucks after being selected 23rd overall back in 2015 and he says he's willing to come back, adding that hopefully something can get figured out on the contract front.
"I've said how much I love it here and willing to come back, so we'll see if we can figure something out," Boeser said.
Boeser, a native of Burnsville, Minnesota, is coming off the best season of his career in 2023-24 and so far this year, his numbers aren't what many were hoping, registering 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 48 games.
If Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks do opt to move him before March 7th, there certainly will be many teams interested in his services, which could lead to a bidding war and potentially, a big return.
Stay tuned to Canucks Daily for full coverage leading up to the 2024-25 NHL trade deadline, which is set for Friday, March 7th at 12 pm PT (3 pm ET).
