With the Vancouver Canucks on a 2 game losing skid, along with being handed their biggest loss in recent memory to the New Jersey Devils (6-0), the team has revealed their starting goalie and projected lineups for this evenings contest with the San Jose Sharks.
The Canucks are commencing their 3-game California road trip tonight when they face the red hot San Jose Sharks, who are looking to win 4 consecutive games.
The Canucks are coming off a major 6-0 shootout loss to the Devils on Wednesday, where head coach Rick Tocchet was clearly not pleased at all with the teams effort and performance. After a beat down like that, you would think that Tocchet would be making changes to his lineup, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Instead ,he commented on the fact that the team just needs to bounce back and go over things in practice to make sure they are ready for they game tonight.
«Good practice after a day off. Usually, when we have a stinker, this team does a really good job [because] we are able to learn.»
We need some skating legs. Back to fundamentals. Might have to do that more often [in practice].»
Vancouver Canucks announce starting goalie and projected lineup for matchup against the San Jose Sharks
At Canucks morning practice today,
Kevin Lankinen was seen being the first goalie off the ice, which in every case this season, indicates that the team is going back to him tonight, especially after the struggles of
Arturs Silovs.
Goaltender Arturs Silovs has been struggling all year long, and his last start against the Devils was no different. On just 22 shots faced, he allowed 6 goals against and achieving an abysmal .727 save percentage (S%).
One surprising thing that was noticed at practice is that the lines have bot been changed from last game. Obviously, we understand it is never 100% confirmed what the lineups will be or who the starting goalie will get the nod, but from the looks at pre-game practice today, (which almost guarantees the lineup and starting goalies), everything looks the same.
Bains. Pettersson. Garland.
DeBrusk. Miller. Boeser.
Heinen. Blueger. Sherwood.
Höglander. Suter. Sprong.
Hughes. Hronek.
Soucy. Myers.
Brännström. Juulsen.
Forbort. Desharnais.
The only question unanswered is regarding
Dakota Joshua. After the Canucks announced today that forward
Nils Aman was placed on waivers to make room for Joshua's return, it begs to ask the question if he will play a few shifts as an extra forward this evening?
The chances are still low, but with the reps he is taking practice and with the recent comments made about his health, he is now officially considered day to day and you can expect him at anytime.
