Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Aman has been placed on the NHL waiver wire this afternoon.

As the Vancouver Canucks are set to begin a three-game road trip tonight against the San Jose Sharks at the SAP Center, the team has decided to make a roster move featuring forward Nils Aman.

Nils Aman lands on NHL waiver wire

In a social media post on Saturday afternoon, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Nils Aman has been placed on waivers in order to assign him to the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks.

"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Nils man has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to Abbotsford (AHL)."

Aman, 24, will now be available to all 31 other teams in the National Hockey League and with the calendar now flipped to November, the way the waiver order has now changed. Until November 1st, the NHL's waiver order is based on last season's standings, with whoever was in 32nd having the first crack at placing a claim on the player. Now that we're in November, the NHL's waiver order is still the same, the 32nd place team has first dibs, but it's based on the current standings.

As of Saturday, the Nashville Predators, who sit 32nd in the NHL with a 3-6-1 record in ten games, would have the first opportunity to place a waiver claim on Nils Aman.

The Avesta, Sweden native, who signed a two-year extension in November 2023, has appeared in four games for the Canucks this season where he's registered two assists and is a minus-one.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin will find out tomorrow at 11 am PT if Nils Aman has been claimed by another team or if he went unclaimed and can be assigned to the American Hockey League.

Aman on waivers a good sign for Dakota Joshua's availability?

With Nils Aman being placed on waivers today, it could signal that forward Dakota Joshua is getting close to returning to the Vancouver Canucks lineup. Joshua announced in September that he had undergone treatment for testicular cancer and was not able to join the team for training camp. The 28-year-old has begun ramping back up in practice recently and was spotted this week wearing a full-contact sweater, signaling that his return is close.

Puck drop for tonight's game between the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks is set for 7 pm PT on CBC and Sportsnet.
