With just hours to go until puck drop against the Los Angeles Kings, the Vancouver Canucks have announced their starting goaltender, as well as an update on Quinn Hughes.

The Vancouver Canucks will continue their five-game road trip tonight with a stop in Los Angeles to face a Kings team that they're chasing in the standings and they could get their captain Quinn Hughes back tonight after missing the last six games with an oblique injury.

After their optional skate at Crypto.com Arena this morning, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet met with reporters where he shared that Kevin Lankinen will get the start tonight against the Kings.
Lankinen has been solid for the Vancouver Canucks this season, appearing in 35 games where he has a record of 19-9-7 with a 2.52 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and four shutouts.
His strong play this season earned him a five-year contract extension with the Canucks, which will see him make $4.5 million annually before becoming a free agent in 2030.
Tocchet also gave an update on Quinn Hughes status for tonight's tilt, saying that he'll be a game-time decision and said that they'll check in with him after he finishes skating.
"Quinn Hughes is a game-time decision, according to Tocchet.

Rick Tocchet wouldn't confirm that the #Canucks captain and star will return to the lineup Wednesday in L.A., noted that he's on the ice currently and the club will check in afterwards.

Lankinen starts." Thomas Drance of The Athletic said on X.
Tonight's game between the Canucks and Kings will be their third and final meeting of the 2024-25 season with Vancouver winning 4-2 back on November 7th, while Los Angeles won 5-1 on January 16th at Rogers Arena.
Puck drop for tonight's contest is set for 7 pm PT and can be viewed nationally across Canada on Sportsnet as part of their Wednesday Night Hockey doubleheader.
