Vancouver Canucks' Elias Pettersson Gets Honest After OT Loss to Canada at 4 Nations Face-Off

After a tough overtime loss to Team Canada to open up the 4 Nations Face-Off on Wednesday, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson faced reporters about his performance.
The 4 Nations Face-Off got underway on Wednesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec as Elias Pettersson and Team Sweden faced off against Team Canada.

Despite overcoming a two-goal deficit to force a 10 minute 3-on-3 overtime, Team Canada came out on top, with Mitch Marner scoring the winner just over six minutes into the extra frame.
After the game, some members of Team Sweden spoke with the media and among those was Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson, who discussed the team's performance in the loss to Canada.
"Yeah you said it yourself, good resilience, worst start imaginable. But I think we battled back, we have them a good game. We could have won it too, in overtime but yeah, that's how it goes." Pettersson said.
He went on to add when asked about the new overtime format, "It felt great. I wanted to be out there all the time. We were close to scoring, and then a minute later, they scored. That's how it goes."

Pettersson played a fairly good game, finishing the night with one shot on goal in 16:32 of ice time and had a golden opportunity in overtime to finish the game for Sweden, but unfortunately for Tre Kronor, he whiffed on the shot.
With the overtime loss, Sweden picked up a very important point in the 4 Nations Face-Off standings, with games against Finland and the United States left on the schedule on Saturday and Monday, respectively.
A regulation win in either of those games would go a long way in Sweden's chances of advancing to the championship. The NHL has gone with the IIHF/European format of 3 points for a victory in regulation, 2 points for overtime/shootout win, 1 point for an overtime/shootout loss and zero for a regulation loss.
Next up on the 4 Nations Face-Off schedule is a battle between Finland and the United States this evening, with puck drop set for 5 pm PT on Sportsnet as as Vancouver Canucks netminder Kevin Lankinen is set to be the backup to Juuse Saros for the Finns.
