As the Vancouver season ends in disappointing fashion against the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday, there is at least something to smile about as the team announced an injury update on Filip Chytil.

It has been a long and frustrating season all-around for the Canucks especially dealing with constant injuries, and newcomer Filip Chytil is not a stranger to this harsh reality.

Vancouver Canucks provide encouraging update on Filip Chytil

Back at the end of January, when the Vancouver Canucks combined with the New York rangers to trade superstar J.T. Miller, no one expected that Filip Chytil as a return would be this effective early on in his tenure with his new team.
The unfortunate aspect to the story is that his career almost came to an end as he has not appeared in a game since March 15 after he was victim to dirty and illegal hit from Jason Dickinson.
With over a month of absence and lack of updates on his recovery, before the final game of the season against the Golden Knights on Wednesday, head coach Rick Tocchet provided a very encouraging update.
«I actually just talked to him today, [he] had a smile on his face. He had the concussion, but I don't think it's as bad as it was last year,» said Tocchet today. «We talked about that. I think there's some other things there. He thought he might have had a little bit of a virus that affected that, but he's excited.»

«Three weeks ago, I think it was doom or gloom because what's this, his fourth [concussion] or something? But just talking today, and we'll talk before the exit meetings, he's very upbeat. It's almost like it wasn't as bad as it could've been because of this virus or whatever he had, so that's a positive. »
With the lack of response from the NHL's department of player safety, deciding not to suspend Dickinson for his hit, it is best believed that he will have to answer the bell next year as Canucks players will be taking matters into their own hands.
In 56 games this season split between the Rangers and Canucks, he recorded 13 goals and 13 assists for 26 points.
