The Vancouver Canucks have finally made a big decisions regarding 2nd pairing defensemen Carson Soucy and Tyler Myers.
As the Vancouver Canucks are set to face off against the Ottawa Senators, there has been an update to the Vancouver Canucks lineup that fans must be thrilled about.
Fans have been begging management online to separate Tyler Myers and Carson Soucy on the second blue line paring as they have been the biggest weak spot on the team.
Finally, it was announced just moments before the game that Carson Soucy will be sliding down to the 3rd paring to play along side
Noah Juulsen.
What seems like a move coming 10-15 games too late, the according move has been made which will see
Erik Brannstrom take a step up and play along side Tyler Myers on the 2nd paring.
Why The Vancouver Canucks Made the Right call Separating Carson Soucy & Tyler Myers
Quinn Hughes and
Filip Hronek is plus-7 at 5-on-5 - essentially the entire advantage created by the Canucks' top pairing on defence has been erased by their second pairing.' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>It has been a hard season so far for Soucy and Myers, as they have failed to effectively move the puck and stop opposing team in the defensive zone.
It is not just that they pair of d-men are failing the eye test, but are a hige negative in the advanced analytics department.
Vancouver has been out-scored 13-to-5 in total when the 2nd paring blue liners are on the ice on 5 on 5.
They have achieved a minus-8 goal differential which seems bad, but even worse when you realize what it truly means.
Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek are in total a +7 while 5-on-5.
This means that they are dominating and creating a major advantage, but their efforts are being completely erased by Soucy and Myers.
Soucy and Myers have come by their negative goal differential honestly, meaning it hasn't just been a case of bad luck. Of the 50 defence pairings around the NHL that have played at least 150 minutes together at 5-on-5, Soucy and Myers have the worst corsi percentage at 37.1% - shot attempts are 227-to-134 for their opposition when they're on the ice.
Cleary the fans are happy as they took to X (formally Twitter) to showcase their excitement about the change.
