The Vancouver Canucks have received some great news on forward Filip Chytil as the club heads into the offseason after missing the playoffs for the fourth time in five years.

In mid-March during a game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks forward Filip Chytil was on the receiving end of a dangerous hit by Jason Dickinson, leaving him with a concussion.
Chytil didn't travel with the team on their road trip and ended up missing the rest of the 2024-25 season, but there was some good news for fans regarding the Czech forward last week.

Rick Tocchet gives positive update on Filip Chytil

When meeting with reporters last week ahead of their final game of the season, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet gave a big update on Filip Chytil and thankfully, it was a positive one.
According to Tocchet, Chytil is in a better place now after dealing with that concussion and said that they believe the head injury he suffered was not as bad as they initially thought because the forward was battling through a virus.
"I actually just talked to him today, [he] had a smile on his face. He had the concussion, but I don't think it's as bad as it was last year We talked about that. I think there's some other things there. He thought he might have had a little bit of a virus that affected that, but he's excited." Tocchet said according to Daily Hive's Noah Strang.

He added, "Three weeks ago, I think it was doom or gloom because what's this, his fourth [concussion] or something? But just talking today, and we'll talk before the exit meetings, he's very upbeat. It's almost like it wasn't as bad as it could've been because of this virus or whatever he had, so that's a positive."

Before Vancouver's season came to a close, Filip Chytil returned to the ice, initially in a non-contact sweater before switching to a regular jersey just a few days later.
During the team's season-ending media availability on Friday, Filip Chytil confirmed to reporters that he is now back to 100 percent health following the concussion.
"Yeah, I feel good. It's been nice [the last] couple of days to practice with the guys, and I really enjoyed it. It's great to head to the off-season 100% ready and have a big summer now, and be ready for September." Chytil said.

Given Filip Chytil's history with concussions, it's great that he returned to the ice last week and is heading into the offseason 100 percent healthy, which will bode him well in training for the 2025-26 season likely in a lesser role if Patrik Allvin is able to acquire a second-line centerman this summer.
