Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has given a pretty big update regarding star goaltender Thatcher Demko.

The Vancouver Canucks continued their six-game road trip on Tuesday night with a stop in Boston to take on the Bruins in what turned out to be quite the performance from a defensive standpoint.

Thanks to 32-save shutout from Kevin Lankinen, the Canucks took down the Bruins by a score of 2-0.

Kevin Lankinen has been lights out for the Vancouver Canucks this season, but his role will likely be reduced as we're getting closer to the return of star netminder Thatcher Demko.

Patrik Allvin gives an update on Thatcher Demko

During an interview with Sportsnet's Dan Murphy on Tuesday night, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin gave an update on Thatcher Demko and it was fairly positive one.

Allvin said that Demko has looked pretty good at practice recently and that he might not be too far away from making his 2024-25 season debut.

"Yeah definitely. I think he felt like he needed a couple more reps here to get into the rhythm. Tough when we don't have many practices here when we're playing a lot of games. So, we're just going to be patient, he's been working so hard and again, showing how committed he is to come back to play for the Canucks and play for his teammates. I don't envision he's that far away, and he looks good to me at practice." Allvin said.

Demko, 28, hasn't played since Game 1 of the first round against the Nashville Predators back in April after suffering his second knee injury within a span of a couple months.

It's taken Thatcher Demko quite a while to get back to skating and being where he is today - close to making his return to the Vancouver Canucks.

His exact injury still remains a bit of a mystery, aside from An NHL.com reporter suggesting back in September that it has to do with his Popliteus, a triangle-shaped muscle behind the back of the knee that's attached to the femur and tibia.

The Vancouver Canucks, minus Thatcher Demko for now, will continue their road trip on Wednesday night as they take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second and final time during the 2024-25 season.
