Inside Sources Confirm Why the Nashville Predators Didn't Re-Sign Kiefer Sherwood, and It's Shocking
With Kiefer Sherwood getting a promotion to the first line with Canucks and playing like a bonified superstar, fans are wondering why Barry Trotz and the Nashville Predators would let him go for so cheap.
On the recent episode of the Spittin' Chiclets Podcast, hosted by Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney, the got into the nitty gritty of what makes Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood so special.
They said nothing that Vancouver Canucks fans do not know already.
He plays like dog on the ice, being the only players to have multiple 10+ hit games this season, and being on pace to smash the single season NHL hits record.
Kiefer Sherwood, a forward for the Vancouver Canucks, has 115 hits in 18 games so far in the season. This puts him on pace for 534 hits in an 82-game season, which would break the single-season hit record of 383 hits set last season by Jeremy Lauzon.
Bissonnette and Whitney Invited NHL insider Jeff Marek on the podcast to discuss who has best contract in the entire league, and Sherwood was a number one pick.
Why Didn't the Nashville Predators re-sign Kiefer Sherwood?
The Vancouver Canucks signed Kiefer Sherwood to a two-year, 3 million contract in the offseason after Trotz and the Predators decided not to resign him.
But fans are wondering, why they didn't at least match an offer?
Paul Bissonnette revealed on the podcast that the Preds did not want to give him more money than their 4th line center Connor McMichael.
McMichael is making $1 million AAV and felt that they couldn't not give Sherwood anything more than that.
Boy, was that a mistake.
It is pretty surreal to think about a guy playing on the first line in a Stanley Cup contending team is making $1.5 million per season.
Granted, there are holes to fill with J.T. Miller. But, Sherwood has really stepped up, and excelled in every role that Head coach Rick Tocchet has trusted him with.
