The Vancouver Canucks found themselves in a pretty tough position last night, but were able to rally behind Kevin Lankinen and pulled out a huge win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

For their final game before the 4 Nations Face-Off break, the Vancouver Canucks welcomed the Toronto Maple Leafs to town and during the first period, Thatcher Demko was forced to leave with an injury and was replaced by Kevin Lankinen.

Rick Tocchet shares update on Thatcher Demko following Saturday's win

Sportsnet's cameras caught a moment during the warmup where Thatcher Demko looked to be in some discomfort, but ultimately pushed through for the first ten minutes of the first period.
Kevin Lankinen, who's been solid for Vancouver all season long and is heading to the 4 Nations Face-Off this week to represent Finland, came in and made 21 saves on 22 shots to pick up the win over Toronto, which is Vancouver's third straight victory.
After the game, Rick Tocchet met with reporters where he gave an update on Thatcher Demko, saying that it doesn't look like it's a serious injury, and much to the relief of Vancouver Canucks fans, adding that it has nothing to do with his knee.
"Something happened during the game. I don't think it's that serious from early reports. It's not the knee." Tocchet said.
It's been a tough season for Thatcher Demko after missing all of training camp and the first two months of the 2024-25 campaign as he recovered from his knee injury he suffered in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and eventually, made his season debut on December 10th against the St. Louis Blues.
Thankfully for the Vancouver Canucks and Thatcher Demko, they don't play again for 13 days due to the 4 Nations Face-Off breaks, so that'll give the netminder some time to recover and hopefully, be good for February 22nd's game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
In 17 games this season, Demko has a record of 6-6-3 with a 2.87 goals against average, an .891 save percentage and one shutout.
