Roster Transaction - Canucks Announce Three Players Have Departed Vancouver, Including Elias Pettersson (D)
Vancouver Canucks assign three players to AHL's Abbotsford Canucks
In a social media post on Saturday night, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've assigned forwards Linus Karlsson and
Nils Aman, along with defenseman
Elias Pettersson to the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Linus Karlsson, F Nils Aman and D Elias Pettersson have been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL)." the Canucks said on X.
Now, while this move will help will salary cap accrual, as they've been doing all season, the main reason Karlsson, Aman and Pettersson are heading down to the AHL is because of the 4 Nations Face-Off break.
The Vancouver Canucks, and all other NHL clubs, are off between tomorrow and Saturday, February 22nd due to the 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal, Quebec and Boston, Massachusetts.
During this 4 Nations Face-Off break, the American Hockey League is still playing, so Karlsson, Aman and Pettersson will be able to get some valuable game time in over the next couple of weeks before being brought back up to the NHL.
Nils Aman, a native of Avesta, Sweden has registered two assists and is a minus-three in seven games for the Vancouver Canucks this season.
Meanwhile, Elias Pettersson, who's been playing quite well of late in the NHL during his first full season in North America, has one assist, two penalty minutes and an even-rating in six games with Vancouver.
The Vancouver Canucks will return to action on February 22nd as they make the trip to Sin City to take on the Vegas Golden Knights for the late game on Hockey Night in Canada, with puck drop set for 7 pm PT.
