Vancouver Canucks Officially Complete Trade With the Anaheim Ducks Organization to Acquire Prospect Forward

While the National Hockey League's trade deadline may have passed last Friday, the AHL's is set for March 14th and the Vancouver Canucks organization has already completed a move, landing nine-year veteran Jujhar Khaira.

With just two days to go until the AHL's trade deadline, who doubles as the Vancouver Canucks' assistant GM and Abbotsford's General Manager, has made another move.

In a post on the team's website on Wednesday, the Abbotsford Canucks announced that they've acquired 27-year-old forward Carsen Twarynski from the San Diego Gulls, affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, in exchange for future considerations.

The St. Alberta, Alberta native joined the Vancouver Canucks organization last summer, signing a one-year AHL contract with Abbotsford after splitting last season between the Bridgeport Islanders and Austrian club Vienna Capitals and brings 22 games of NHL experience to San Diego.

In 26 games this season for Abbotsford, Twarynski put up seven points (two goals, five assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-one.

Given how he's played this season and the recent acquisition of Jujhar Khaira, Twarynski became expendable and will now have an opportunity for more minutes with a San Diego Gull squad that sits second-last in the Pacific Division with 23 wins in 56 games.

Twarynski could make his San Diego Gulls debut on Friday night as they host the Colorado Eagles, who are currently first in both the Pacific Division and Western Conference.
