The Vancouver Canucks will play their biggest game of the 2024-25 season on Wednesday night against the Calgary Flames and will potentially do so with their captain.
After losing to the Montreal Canadiens last night, the Vancouver Canucks saw their Stanley Cup Playoff odds drop significantly and tonight, Rick Tocchet's group will look to remain in the hunt for a postseason spot against a Calgary Flames team that sits just one point ahead of them in the wild card standings.
Following last night's loss, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet was asked about captain Quinn Hughes and when fans could see him back in the lineup and it appears it might be tonight.
Rick Tocchet gives big update on Quinn Hughes' status vs Calgary Flames
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been out of the team's lineup for the last four games after suffering an injury on March 1st against the Seattle Kraken, which forced him to sit out the final nine minutes of the third period that night.
Hughes was back on the ice on Tuesday at Rogers Arena in a non-contact sweater and while he wasn't able to play against Montreal, there's a good chance he'll return to the lineup tonight in Calgary.
Rick Tocchet told reporters following last night's loss to the Canadiens that Quinn Hughes' return on Wednesday is a good possibility.
"Good possibility he could be in," Rick Tocchet said.
The 25-year-old Hughes has missed a total of 14 games this season with the Vancouver Canucks going 6-6-2 and at times, have missed the offense he brings in a big way.
In 50 games this season, Hughes has registered 60 points (14 goals, 46 assists), 27 penalty minutes and is a plus-ten and despite missing 21% of his team's games in 2024-25, remains in the mix to be a finalist for the Norris Trophy.
Puck drop for tonight's game at the Saddledome in Calgary is set for 6 pm PT on Sportsnet.
