Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko has returned and with that, he's debuted a new mask that features some of the franchise's greatest players.

Ten days ago, Thatcher Demko made his return to the crease for the Vancouver Canucks after dealing with knee injuries since late in the 2023-24 season.

Demko's return to the Vancouver Canucks is great news and last night against the Colorado Avalanche, he picked up his first win of the season, which the netminder said was big for him.

"Big one for me. Certainly wouldn't have liked 0-3 my first three back." Demko said.

Thatcher Demko honors franchise legends with new mask

Since making his return to the Vancouver Canucks, Thatcher Demko has debuted a new mask and it has a nice nod to some of the greatest players this franchise has ever seen.

On the back of Demko's mask, it features the banners of all six numbers retired by the Vancouver Canucks - Stan Smyl (12), Trevor Linden (16), Pavel Bure (10), Markus Naslund (19), Daniel Sedin (22) and Henrik Sedin (33).

It also shows Roberto Luongo looking up at the retired numbers, likely meaning that Thatcher Demko believes his number 1 should be hanging in the rafters of Rogers Arena, a feeling that many fans have as well.

Roberto Luongo is undoubtedly the greatest goaltender the Vancouver Canucks have ever seen, appearing in 448 games for the club between 2006 and 2014 where he has a record of 252-137-50 along with a 2.36 goals against average, a .919 save percentage and 38 shutouts.

During his time in Vancouver, Luongo was a top-three finalist for the Vezina Trophy on three occasions and also won the William M. Jennings Trophy 2010-11 season.

The franchise needs to have a serious discussion about retiring Roberto Luongo's number 1, but for now, the Hall of Fame goaltender's name is in the Ring of Honor at Rogers Arena.
