The New York Rangers were fortunate enough to win the lottery in 2020 after their early play-in round exit in the bubble.

After the World Junior Championship he just had and his tremendous junior career, Alexis Lafrenière was undoubtedly meant to be picked first. The Rangers had just picked Kaapo Kakko the year before and they were thrilled to add the Quebecer to their core.

Though the youngster's development hasn't been going as fast as expected and it's been made clear that he would be a healthy scratch tonight. A first since he's entered the league.

Lafrenière now has 17 points in 36 games, his best point-per-game ratio since he entered the league three years ago. Even though he's had a constant progression in his offensive game since arriving in the big league, Gerard Gallant is not satisfied with what he brings on the ice.

The New York Rangers are known to be buyers heading into the spring, should we expect Lafrenière to be part of a trade? Maybe all he needs is a change of scenery. We know that now Canucks assistant GM Emilie Castonguay, was previously his agent before she engaged with the Canucks, is Vancouver a potential landing destination for the former first overall pick?
