Drance reveals important information regarding Hoglander's and Podkolzin's future
The Canucks capacity to develop their young players through their farm system has been questionnes a ton lately and it seems like they may have taken a big step forward.
In his most recent article in The Athletic, Thomas Drance, revealed that the Canucks intend on leaving both young guns, Nils Hoglander and Vasily Podkolzin in the AHL:
'Nils Höglander and Vasili Podkolzin are expected to remain in the American League for now. The Abbotsford Canucks are playing well, both Höglander and Podkolzin have been able to put in work with Henrik and Daniel Sedin, and the environment is a positive one.''
The two have had an issues with their consistency in the NHL and quality icetime might just be the what they need to gain confidence. He stated that he expects them to be back in the NHL before the season ended, but that the priority was their development.
Abbotsford has been on a tear as of late and it's a great environment to be in right now. Podkolzin, the 10th overall pick in 2019, has points through 11 games since being sent down. Hoglander, the 40th pick of that same draft year, has yet to register a point in 2 outings.
For the sake of their development, is spending time down in Abbotsford with the twins the best option?
