The Vancouver Canucks were in St Louis Thursday night to face-off against the Blues. The Canucks didn't get the start they were looking for with the Blues drawing first blood taking a 1-0 lead after the first period.

The Blues would strike again in the 2nd period and it looked like the Canucks were going to get handed another loss.

However, the Nucks showed some real character, coming back down 2-0 in the 3rd period to tie it up from goals by J.T. Miller and Andrei Kuzmenko to force overtime.

In overtime, Blues forward Robert Thomas would get a golden opportunity off a terrible turnover by the Canucks defence that nearly costed them, but goaltender Arturs Silovs would make a game saving stop on Thomas.

That save by Silovs would turn out to be the turning point to this one because just after, Canucks forward Elias Pettersson would go coast to coast with less than a minute to play and would snipe the winner past Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington sending the Blues, and their fans in attendance disappointed.

After the game, Canucks head coach would praise his team on their effort:

"Petey, in the third. Millsy had a great game. Kuzy, Mr. Clutch. The role players, the Aman line was good. Podz was good in the third. We didn't have any passengers and when you're becoming a good team that's what you need."

🗣️ Head Coach Rick Tocchet

This was a huge win but their next game will be a lot tougher, playing the Boston Bruins Saturday at 7pm.
