The NHL trade deadline isn't even here yet and we've seen alot of big moves as well as smaller trades too.
However, with the trade deadline coming fast and many teams having little to no money left on the salary cap, teams are having to get more creative. One of the things teams have been doing to work around this is add a third team into a trade to help retain salaries for assets.
The Minnesota Wild have done this twice already helping the Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs make trades. Now it seems the two Canadian teams: the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens, whom are already out of the playoffs, are willing to step up as third party brokers to help acquire assets in return.
This is a very smart decision if your team isn't going to spend all of your cap, why not trade it for some picks or prospects?
