It's almost scary the numbers Bo Horvat is putting up, trumped only by the frightfulness of his team's play after dropping a 3-2 decision to the Leafs in a game that saw their 6th multi goal lead evaporate in just 15 games for yet another 2 points lost.
For Horvat, he seems to have quite a chip on the shoulder as he steps into potential free agency after what is shaping up as his best statistical season yet. Last night was no different, playing in front of family & friends in Toronto & opening the scoring on a beautiful deflection from the slot.
The options are all over the map with Horvat, especially with his team reeling as they are.
Analysts across the league are marvelling at the futility of the Canucks' this year so far, while fans are just bewildered by a team with no guidance or structure from the top down.
So what does that mean for a player staring down a new $8,000,000 salary?
The lineup this team ices next season is going to look far far different from the one we have been watching blow leads for a month & a day, you can bet on that. The impending salary means even with a potential $4M increase in the cap, the Canucks have some hard questions to ask.
The most important one, and one they can't change now, is the fact they just might have given $8,000,000 to the wrong centreman.
Only time will tell, and it'll start telling today at 3pm PST vs the Boston Bruins in the 4th of 5 game their road trip. Thatcher Demko is expected to start, though not official & at this point your guess is as good as mine as to what the lineup looks like, but when we know, you'll know.
